How to Prepare for MBA CET in 90 Days: A Week-by-Week Plan

Ninety days is enough time to prepare seriously for MBA CET, if you use it in the right order.

Most students lose weeks in the middle: they keep starting new topics, avoid mocks until they "finish the syllabus" and never look closely at their mistakes. The result is a lot of hours studied and very little improvement.

This plan fixes that. It is a week-by-week MBA CET preparation plan for 90 days, built for the MBA CET (also called MAH-CET or the MAH MBA/MMS CET, conducted by the State CET Cell, Maharashtra). It tells you what to study each week, when to start sectional tests, when to move to full-length MBA CET mock tests and how to use the last week.

If you want the bigger picture behind this plan, read the MBA CET 2027 preparation strategy first. This post turns that strategy into a day-by-day schedule.

MBA CET Exam Pattern (MAH-CET): What You Are Preparing For

The MBA CET (MAH-CET) is a computer-based test of 200 MCQs in 150 minutes.

SectionQuestions
Logical Reasoning75
Abstract Reasoning25
Quantitative Aptitude50
Verbal Ability / Reading Comprehension50
Total200 questions in 150 minutes

Each correct answer earns +1 mark and there is no negative marking. That works out to an average of 45 seconds per question, so speed matters as much as accuracy. Always confirm the latest pattern on the official CET Cell notification. The full MBA CET exam pattern, syllabus and top colleges page has the details in one place.

How Much Time Do You Need Each Day?

A realistic schedule for this MBA CET preparation plan is about 3 hours on weekdays and 5 to 6 hours on weekends. If you are working or in college, you can stretch the plan to 120 days at lower daily hours. The order matters more than the total hours.

A simple daily split:

  • Session 1 (about 90 minutes): your focus topic for the week, concepts first, then practice.
  • Session 2 (about 60 minutes): a timed set of 20 to 30 mixed questions from Logical Reasoning or Quant.
  • Daily 20 to 30 minutes: Verbal Ability. Read one editorial or passage, then solve a few grammar or vocabulary questions.

Phase 1: Foundation (Weeks 1 to 4)

The aim of this phase is to cover every major topic once and find out where you stand.

Week 1: Diagnose and Start

  • Take one full-length test or a few sectional tests before you study anything. The score does not matter. The point is to see your starting accuracy and speed in each section.
  • MBA CET Logical Reasoning: linear seating arrangements.
  • MBA CET Quantitative Aptitude: percentages, ratio and proportion, averages.
  • Verbal Ability: grammar basics and a daily reading habit.

Week 2: Core Topics

  • Logical Reasoning: circular arrangements, blood relations, direction sense.
  • Quant: profit and loss, simple and compound interest, mixtures and alligation.
  • Verbal: vocabulary in context and error spotting.
  • Abstract Reasoning: start with simple series and pattern questions.

Week 3: Build the Toolkit

  • Logical Reasoning: coding-decoding, syllogisms, inequalities.
  • Quant: time and work, pipes, time-speed-distance.
  • Verbal: para jumbles and odd sentence out.
  • Take your first sectional tests this week. Try the free MBA CET sectional tests on Percentile Lab and note your accuracy in each.

Week 4: Harder Question Types

  • Logical Reasoning: distribution and scheduling puzzles, data sufficiency.
  • Quant: algebra (equations and inequalities) and number systems.
  • Verbal: reading comprehension, two passages a day.
  • End the phase with one more full test and compare it with your Week 1 diagnostic.

Phase 2: Speed and Sectionals (Weeks 5 to 8)

Now that you know the methods, the aim is to solve them faster and to choose questions wisely.

Week 5: Timed Practice

  • Put a time limit on every set. For puzzles, aim for roughly 90 seconds to 2 minutes per question, and learn to skip one that is taking longer.
  • Quant: permutation and combination, probability.
  • Verbal: reading comprehension speed, and a few passages every day.

Week 6: Sectional Tests Twice a Week

  • Quant: geometry, mensuration and data interpretation.
  • Logical Reasoning: critical reasoning (assumptions, strengthen and weaken).
  • Take two timed sectional tests this week and keep an error log: for every wrong answer, write down whether it was a concept gap, a calculation slip or a time problem.

Week 7: Your First Full-Length MBA CET Mock

  • Take your first full-length MBA CET mock test in one 150-minute sitting.
  • Spend at least as long analysing it as you spent taking it. Which section lost the most time? Which questions should you have skipped? Which were easy marks you missed?
  • Do Abstract Reasoning practice this week: it is only 25 questions, but they are quick marks once you know the patterns.

Week 8: Fix and Repeat

  • Work on the topics your first mock exposed.
  • Take a second full-length mock at the end of the week.
  • Start a one-page formula and shortcut sheet for Quant and Logical Reasoning. You will use it for revision later.

Phase 3: Mocks and Revision (Weeks 9 to 12)

This phase is where MBA CET scores usually move the most, because you are practising the exam itself.

Week 9: Settle Your Strategy

  • Take two full-length mocks with a day of analysis after each.
  • Decide your section order and your time split for each section. There is no single correct order. Start with the section where you are quickest to score.
  • Try the free sample test and the free practice questions for quick extra practice on busy days.

Week 10: Attack Weak Areas

  • Look at your error log. Pick the three topics that cost you the most marks and revise only those.
  • Take two more mocks and one or two sectional tests.

Week 11: Speed Drills

  • Do short timed drills: 15 questions in 15 minutes on Logical Reasoning, Quant or Verbal.
  • Two mocks again. Your target is steady accuracy while attempting more questions.

Week 12: Full Simulation

  • Take your mocks at the same time of day as your exam slot, with no breaks, following your planned section strategy.
  • Re-read your formula sheet and error log every day.

The Last 6 Days (Days 85 to 90)

  • No new topics. Revise your error log, your formula sheet and the question types you find easiest.
  • Take at most one light mock or a couple of sectional tests, no later than three days before the exam.
  • Sleep well. Check your admit card, exam centre and documents in advance.

Mock Test Schedule at a Glance

WeeksTests
1One diagnostic test
3 to 4Sectional tests, 1 to 2 a week
5 to 6Timed sectional tests, 2 a week
7 to 8One full mock a week
9 to 12Two full mocks a week, plus sectionals as needed

The number of mocks matters less than what you do after each one. One mock analysed properly is worth more than three mocks that you only look at the score of.

Because There Is No Negative Marking

Since MBA CET has no negative marking, you should never leave a question blank. In the last few minutes of each section, mark an answer for every remaining question. Practise this habit in your mocks so that it is automatic on exam day. See our guide on how percentile is calculated and what score to target for how raw marks translate into your result.

What If You Have Less Than 90 Days?

  • 60 days: Compress Phase 1 into two weeks by covering only the high-weight topics (seating arrangements, puzzles, percentages, ratio, time and work, algebra, grammar and reading comprehension). Keep Phases 2 and 3 as they are.
  • 45 days: Skip the diagnostic week, study only your weakest section deeply, and start mocks by Week 3.
  • 30 days: Use the plan for revision only. Take a mock every other day, analyse each one and fix your top three weak topics.

MBA CET 90-Day Preparation: Frequently Asked Questions

Can I prepare for MBA CET (MAH-CET) in 90 days?

Yes. With 3 to 5 hours of focused study a day and regular mock tests, 90 days is enough to cover the MBA CET (MAH-CET) syllabus and build exam speed. The result depends on your starting level and how consistently you analyse your mocks.

How many hours a day should I study for MBA CET?

Around 3 hours on weekdays and 5 to 6 hours on weekends works for most students. If you can only manage less, stretch the plan over a longer period.

When should I start MBA CET mock tests?

For the MAH-CET, take a diagnostic test in Week 1, sectional tests from Week 3 and your first full-length MBA CET mock around Week 7. From then on, increase the frequency each week.

Is there negative marking in MBA CET?

No. The MBA CET awards +1 for each correct answer and has no negative marking, so you should attempt every question. Confirm the details on the official CET Cell notification.

Which section should I focus on most in MBA CET?

Logical Reasoning carries the highest weight with 75 of the 200 questions, followed by Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability with 50 each, and Abstract Reasoning with 25. Give Logical Reasoning the most time, but do not neglect the others.
